The Ghana Institute of Surveyors in partnership with the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LISAG), is strongly motivated to host the FIG Working Week Ghana 2021.
This Working Week; when hosted in Ghana would;
Although the theme for the Working Week 2021 would be chosen in collaboration with FIG administration, LISAG proposes;
Amongst other benefits, the Working Week Ghana 2021 would stimulate stakeholder discussions on surveying career, its role and impact on national development as well as boost the visibility of the host LISAG and West Africa as a whole. Again, the surveying profession and brand would be consolidated and positioned strategically across the globe, thus enhancing its socio–economic landscape.
The Licensed Surveyor is a professional who provides services of land surveying as described by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG Definition) www.fig.net
In Ghana, licensing of surveyors dates back to the colonial period and its existence enshrined in the various legislation promulgated from pre-colonial times till date. These were the survey ordinances and currently the Survey Act 1962, Act 127.
Typically, most licensed surveyors work to support the land administration system by providing certified and or cadastral plans and maps for land conveyancing. Others are into research, whilst many also support the adjudication system of the judicial service by giving expert evidence on boundary dispute settlements.Read more
